Dorea Cook’s current research focuses on twenty-first century North American art songs by women composers, particularly art songs approachable for the advanced high school or typical freshman or sophomore college student.
She has presented her findings at the 2022 and 2020 NATS National Conference, the 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 Music by Women Festivals, the 2019, 2021, and 2023 SERNATS Conference, and the 2019 Georgia NATS Conference. Other recent performances include a virtual performance at the 2021 Music by Women Festival, an online lecture at the 2021 SERNATS Conference, and a performance of crossover songs from this research at the 2022 and 2023 Music by Women Festivals.
